Hello and Happy Holidays.
This week finds me finishing things up on one hand, and getting ready to EXPLORE 2015. JOY was my word for 2014, and EXPLORE is for 2015. If you are interested in the WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday) blog hop then check out Julia Dunnit and her Stamping Ground blog.
Finishing Up
SMASHING my weekend in Beverly Hills. We went to Into the Woods, and it was absolutely awesome. And on the way back to the airport discovered the Artist and Craftsman Supply store. The Farmer’s Market is wonderful for lunch, but the ACS is like being in a candy store.
Getting Ready for 2015
I am planning on some structure for my studio next year. I will be participating in a number of exciting online learning. Oh yes and I will be getting a new desk to reconfigure my space and make it more like a studio and less like an office.
- Lifebook 2015 with the amazing Tamara Laporte
- Document Life Project 2015 with the Art to the 5th gals
- Artfully Inspired Life 2015 with the spectacular Joanne Sharpe (I am taking some of her other lettering classes and having the time of my letters)
My Favorite Thing This Week
Tearing paper. As you can see as the shapes change from left to right, I started out measuring, then I added fancy scissors, but the fun really began when I got right into it and just started tearing the paper. Oh what a feeling. And then I collaged over one of the pages in my SMASH practice book. Happy. Happy. Joy. Joy.

Betsy may be ready for the new year, but I still have journals to make, and yours are so gorgeous. I will have to check out the list web sites you offered.
Thanks for visiting me this week

You are very inspiring…from making your craft room less like an office to lining up your learning for 2015–such a great ideas. I love your “couch tote” too. I think we all need a tote for taking around the house. I have a Smash book I need to get back into…I’m so tempted to pick up yet another Smash book at Michaels. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #41

Sandy:
Recently Marshals and TJMaxx have had selected SMASH books for dirt cheap. So you might want to check them out.
My husband is not as “creative” as I (his office always looks like he is away on vacation) so my “spillage” in the family room drives him crazy. Hoping this will be the solution for us both.
Thanks so much for visiting with me today, and all the best in 2015.

Hi Pat, thanks for visiting my blog earlier and leaving a sweet comment. Your smash book looks great. I at first didn’t know what a smash book was but it looks like what we used to call a scrapbook. Writing while on holiday and sticking in all the tickets and leaflets of where you went. Great fun.
Have a good week,

SMASHING is such fun, for us creative, non-artist types. I have a selection of journals for next year and am looking forward to sharing with this wonderful group of well wishers. All the best for 2015.

2015 lol, I’m still trying to find 2014! Your weekend away sounds like it was a lot of fun and I like your plans for 2015. I don’t have many, but I did make a spreadsheet of all the socks I want to make with which yarn and in which month I can cast on!! I’m hopeless! Have a great Christmas.

Hi – Joy was my word for 2014, too, but the emphasis for me was to ‘choose’ it, which hasn’t always been easy but has helped me grow/change/persevere. I wonder what ‘explore’ will come to mean, for you?! Your smash book is a wonderful keepsake from your great trip, and the other art work looks great, too. Happy WOYWW, Chris # 8

Hey Annie, thanks for the visit and the kind words. My organizing side of the brain has been in charge for a very long time. I can now colour outside the lines. It took months to do that. All the best in 2015

Hi, Pat. Thanks for your visit. I love that you choose a word for the year. I’ll have to give that some thought. Last year was very stressful for us, so a calming word might be good. 🙂 I like your smash book. “Into the Woods” sounds intriguing. Have a merry Christmas.:)

Hey there, thanks for the return visit. Into the Woods (staring Meryl Streep and others) will be opening in theaters on Christmas day. It is a Stephen Sondheim musical that explores the (supposedly) happily ever after for favorite fairy tales.

Hi Pat, thanks for visiting earlier, it takes some time to get around.
I see you made your plans for 2015 already, I will attend the documented life project 2015 also. It will be fun I am sure. I am not sure yet what else I am going to attend. Your smash book looks like a lot of fun, can be a nice memory too.

Explore is a good word…full of possibilities and different interpretations. You made me think what my word could be…Try maybe, or Brave. We’ll see 🙂
Meanwhile, I think it’s great that you got into tearing paper, far more liberating than fussy cutting!

It sounds as if you’ve got lots planned, Pat. Love the paper tearing, and reordering your studio is always an exciting project! For several years in our old house I struggled to make both office and studio work in one room, with no success at all and it was very frustrating. In the new house I have a fabulous purpose built studio with a subdivision for the office and it’s perfect!!! Thanks for your lovely understanding comment – if you weren’t so far away across the Pond, I’d invite you for a fuzzy friends’ cup of tea any day!! A lot of this year has been a real struggle and I’m really exhausted, and definitely hoping for better things next year.
Happy WOYWW,
