SMASHING Into The Woods

SMASHing weekend

SMASHing weekend

Michael and I spent the weekend in Beverly Hills to see the OSF production of Into the Woods at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Yes I did see it 5 times this summer, and even got to be a brown cow on stage. Inside, on a much smaller stage, meant that everything was more intimate and crystal clear. Congratulations to everyone.  So what you see on my desk this week is my collection of memories to be SMASHed into my 2014 this is my life, smash book. Adhesive at the ready….

Current Projects

Last week I was working on two “challenges”.

The first was a Hamsa mandala from my class with the amazing Julie Gibbons. I used my “personality” mandala colors and a lot of circular imagery. According to a FB quiz today, I am 70% female/30% male in my “thinking”. This looks pretty feminine to me. I did not use glitter, (I really held back) but did use Liquid Pearls and Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Watersoluble pastels that I waxed on about last week. (tee hee)

The second was Ink blotting with Jennibellie. Quick and fun, I think I will add these pages to my now do something else with this pile of beautiful things. Basically add paint on one side of the page and then slap them together Rorschach like.

My Favorite Thing this Week

Shopping! While in BH we stopped by the Farmer’s Market and a newly discovered employee-owned, Artist & Craftsman Supply store.  You might call it crafters’ seventh heaven.

What a lovely idea, an employee-owned shop! The mandala looks great, and you’re obviously having great fun, experimenting with the paint blobs! Enjoy, and hugs, Chris # 13

The prices were very good, but the best thing was walking through all of the lovely supplies. I had to be careful as we only had carry-on luggage so no fluids or other potentially “dangerous” things.

Hi Pat, lovely to see the finished Mandala, it looks great. I like your ink blotting too there are so many different ways of doing this which gives different effects so you are in for some fun there.

I loved the colours you used in your mandala but reckon you could add a little glitter if you wanted to…after all, there is no such thing as too much bling!! LOL I’m such a magpie, drawn to anything sparkly (yet in reality am a tomboy, always have been)
Love the idea of an employee owned craft store…I’d support that if I saw it. I’ve tried to buy most of my Christmas presents from small local shops.

How cool an employee owned shop! Yes, I would also support it. Your challenges look superfun, I was thinking about joining Jennibellie also.
    Thanks for visiting earlier.

Well, I was hoping to visit Farmers Market whilst in LA over Christmas but now you have told me about that new place maybe I should give it a miss/whirl? Which?
Lovely mandala – I love my Caran D’Ache – now to see if I can find that quiz on FB.
